ALL THINGS WORK FOR GOOD
MESSIAN DREAD UPDATE MARCH 29 2017
WWW, March 29 2017 - Over two years
since the last update. Apart
from a few postings on the Dubroom Message Boards and Google+ as well as some
interesting discussions on YouTube, nothing has come out from yours truly. So
what has been going on?
Was it a coincidence that I had to get to the
hospital just a few days before I would do my first performance of the year?
This question has been running through my mind several times. Of course, it had
to come one day, that's for sure. A thing that might illustrate my condition was
the fact that my weight was a mere 53 kilo (116 pound). I thought I was 65 (143
pound). I was seriously underfed, which obviously had a consequence. So yes, it
was a matter of time before I would end up in hospital. No doubt about it.
After my initial revalidation process, I
gradually regained some strength. At first I couldn't walk for more than 5
minutes without having to rest. Currently I am driving my bicycle almost daily
and I make trips of 40 kilometers (25 miles) on average. Takes me two, two and a
half hour. While I'm riding, I'm listening to things. Debates, interviews,
lectures, audio books. I'm catching up, that's a fact. It wouldn't have happened
without me having to change my lifestyle significantly.
Still, I find it hard to simply ignore the
timing of everything.
The Bible says that "we know that all
things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called
according to His purpose." (Romans 8:28). Not hard to imagine how can see
my hospitalization and subsequent change of lifestyle in this very same context.
You see, while I was doing all these musical things I did not have time to
actually to an in-depth study of the Book of Books. To examine and deepen my
faith, the most important thing in my life.
It begged the question: "What is more
important, to entertain people or to grow in knowledge and therefore in
fruit?" Asking the question is actually answering it. Sure there is a time
and place for everything. A time to rejoice, a time to mourn. A time to be
angry, a time to forgive. A time to share, for example my musical productions,
and a time to just take and gain, in this case: knowledge and hopefully some
more wisdom.
Recently I watched an interview with the very
well known hard rock artist Alice Cooper. Turned out he gave his life to Jesus.
He said something like: "You know, God said to me, now you've seen enough
and now I want you for myself", something to that effect. I can see a bit
of a parallel, even though I'm a born again Christian since 1985. Not being part
of any Christian Industrial complex, just out there "in the world", as
it is called. Performing at places where you average Christian doesn't go, just
to share Jah Light. Sharing, giving.
A few days before I would perform, God at least
put me out of action. I had nothing more to give.
In hindsight, I can see that this did not came
out of nowhere, even though it seemed so at the time. I read updates from
before. I think about the enormous fatigues I had while still feeling compelled
to "trod on" as the saying goes. Even Christians were more interested
in the music than anything else. For me it was no question, even though I did
develop a view of myself being the band that plays the music while the Titanic
is sinking about 5 years or so ago. No, there was no way for me or others to
start realizing I was not the well that never runs dry.
My collapse two years ago changed all of that.
Because it's already two years, I can say that
I think I am in a new phase in my life. Having made hundreds of tracks of which
95% are free to download, is that not enough? Do I need to produce more of the
same, just for the sake of having a flow? It costs a lot of money, time and
health to do so.
I think the time is there for me to continue
studying, learning, deepening my faith and staying reasonable healthy.
THREE WEEKS ON THE EDGE OF PHYSICAL LIFE
MESSIAN DREAD REPORT FEBRUARY 19 2015
WWW, February 19 2015 - There I was, just a
couple of days before what would be my first live performance in this year, just
a couple of days after an initial positive outlook and update
I wrote about this 2015. There I was, in an ambulance on my way to the hospital
where I found out I would have to undergo a life-saving surgery in yet another
hospital. After three weeks of absence, I returned home yesterday and wrote the
following report.
It's a lesson which I never seem to learn:
writing updates, sharing plans, finding out that things went different. You
could do a research project analyzing updates and factual progress on this
website. No difference about that when it comes to this report. This time,
though, it's truly serious. Yesterday I arrived back home in a taxi after a
three week absence and with the prospect of five weeks of recovery and an even
longer revalidation process. Yes, indeed: a medical situation. A serious medical
situation which -without intervention- would have caused my physical death. The
direct reason I'm still here is the fact Jah used some magnificent surgeon and
staff, intensive care personnel and a whole lot more medical people to keep this
body alive.
In short: I'm out of the hospital, my body is
recovering from surgery and situation. I'm unable to do most things I'm used to
do, stuff like lifting things and working hours and hours in a row. I've got
some serious fractures and wounds that need healing before they will turn into
scars during the next weeks and only after that initial recovery will I have to
go through a rather intense revalidation process. Yes, it's rather serious even
though I'm not in any direct life danger anymore and with some adjustments I
can, to quote the surgeon under whose knife I was for many hours, "get
old".
At this moment, I can spend some time writing
and I'll have to take short walks, but not too much. I get physically tired
quite easy, can't do simple things like lifting a thing and even sleeping at
night isn't giving the comfort it should give. I'm taking paracetamol
4 times a day to keep the worst pains away which is working wonders. Fortunately
I'm a reluctant medicine taker so my body does respond very well whenever I do
take a painkiller or whatever.
Exactly a week ago my wife got a phone call
from the surgeon, that everything went well and I would soon wake up in the
Intensive Care unit in the hospital, surrounded by all kinds of tubes and
drains. During the surgery several vital organs went off-line and a machine kept
me alive. Quite serious, especially when you're -like me- not used to all these
things first hand. I only had a few medical situations in my life and they were
all in the previous century. A broken arm, stuff like that.
In the two weeks before I could undergo the
surgery, I was in the local hospital where I got the best care I could possibly
get. The first week was one full of uncertainty, full of friends and family
visiting and encouraging me with moral and practical support. In the second,
things worsened and the seriousness of my condition became painfully clear. I
had to focus on keeping my body alive and only my wife and father could visit
me. I had to reserve every milligram of my mental strength to maintain my own
condition, something completely new to me. In the same time I had to accept that
I was taken care of, for that very same reason. This was all to keep my body
from passing away...
At February 11 I was driven to a larger
hospital where I spent the night, woke up at 6 am the next day and went
"under the knife" about 90 minutes later. Some 24+ hours further on I
was taken from the Intensive Care unit and was driven back to my hometown by
ambulance the next Monday, February 16. Jah had blessed me with a
quicker-than-average recovery and so I was released yesterday, February 18.
All of this leaves me in this current
situation. Truly a time wherein the words "He Maketh Me To Lay Down"
translate directly to my current condition, especially where it relates to this
work on the Dubroom and "Planet Reggae". I still have to give most of
my strength and energy to recovering. I know what I have to do, I have a very
strong support base and some of the best and finest medical people to assist me
in this process. This is a process, a project in which my body has to get fit so
that my soul and spirit can do the things I'm supposed to do.
I'm not afraid for physical death. I've seen
death in the face before. In fact, I know for a fact that the only reason I am
not with Him in Zion already is because He wants to use me in this physical
realm. For what, I don't know. That's not my business. It is my business to keep
this body alive in every way possible. This rest and blessing is my drive to
stay alive, not the fear of death itself. I wish
that very same rest and blessing to you too, whoever you are and in whatever
situation you are.
Let me conclude this little report by saying
that I do not have any plans other than to do what I can when I can. There is
always a lot to do, but I haven't got any idea when I'll be working on what.
After all, when my body isn't able to function there's very little I can do
anyway...
2015 HAS ARRIVED
MESSIAN DREAD UPDATE JANUARY 6 2015
WWW, January 2015 - After a turbulent year both
personal and in the musical field, this brand new year 2015 started nice and
quiet. A New Year's greeting and update from the Dubroom webmaster.
A year ago, I was and was not looking forward
to the upcoming year. It was around this day, that we've entered into a legal
procedure which we knew would take about a year before it's completion. A very
necessary procedure that would provide us with a much more stable living
situation. We knew we had to go all through that 2014 in order to reach 2015
wherein this stable situation would be a fact. And yes, it is a fact. Thanks to
Jah.
For me, personally, this means that we here
have reached a situation where I -and others- have been working to establish in
a seven yearlong process. After seven years, I can finally testify that Jah is
good and what He promises comes to pass.
So yes, a happy new year every body!
I've been quite productive musically during
that final year 2014, a thing which I hopefully will be continuating in the
upcoming year. For sure is that I'm scheduled to play music January 31 during JAH
SESSIONS in my local home town of Drachten in the Netherlands. Another thing
in the planning is to purchase a reverb and delay for use in a new studio set
up.
Pretty soon I'll start up the diesel engines
again and begin to release more music, mixes, reviews and tutorials.
For now, I'm enjoying the vibe in this first
year of what could be called a newly found freedom, the freedom to live the life
I love and love the life I live.
IN THE MEAN TIME...
MESSIAN DREAD UPDATE AUGUST 22 2014
WWW, August 22 2014 - Yesterday was the
conclusion of the official release of my album "Heavyweight
Dubwise". During the last twelve days, while one track was released per
day, I've been doing all kinds of things. Things, that not only justify this
update, but require them. Read about the midi files, about being accused of
stealing from a thief, about all my Creative Commons releases, and more.
the midi files
After kind of rising from my online slumber earlier this year, I discovered a
new feature at my web hosting provider. I can watch in real-time what happens on
the dubroom.org servers, and I do that a few times a week. This helped me
tremendously, because I learned that the Midi Files we've released during the
early years of this website back in 1997 were way more popular than I thought.
Truly, I thought it was more a thing people would go to for old times sake,
and an "occasional" producer/visitor of studio.dubroom.org.
How wrong I was.
I knew about "Skream", the Dub Step producer that has used our
material for his commercial releases without even crediting us. I knew about
some other people who used the midi files for non-commercial reasons, but I was
absolutely unaware of the enormous popularity. Yes, that page is visited 1000's
of times each week.
All these people who have been visiting that page, have been reading the
copyright notices. Notices which basically prevented honest people from
spreading the stuff. And so, thieves like Skream got away with it. If these
files would have been released in the Creative Commons domain, he would just
have been the next to use that particular file.
I discovered this year, that the Dubroom is visited every day by much (many?
dunno my inglish there) more producers than I previously thought. I really
thought that studio.dubroom.org got like a few visits a day but that is
absolutely not the case. From all over the world people are visiting the studio,
reading the tutorials. Even from places you don't expect.
Gradually, things dawned and I started to see connections.
And so I re-released all the midi files into the creative commons domain.
I pick my battles and ketching vampires like skream is much more of a worldly,
carnal thing than I care to deal with actually. I mean, this is a guy who works
in a scene very much comparable with Dancehall and Techno, meaning cokane and
dollars using immorality and pompous behavior. He's making his fortune doing
these things. To be honest I do not want to have one cent of that fortune. So
why am I putting so much energy in this whole dead-bury-dead culture, and why do
i not realize that of course vampires are there sucking from the source of life
by sucking from Jah people.
Yes, what's new? Hm.... It's not like stealing my Inspiration. It's showing lack
of contact with the Source of life.
I see that so many people visit the midi page. Skream is not the only one, I am
sure of that. None of them want anyone to know about the Midi file, obviously.
So this is the best way to counter these parasites without giving them one more
minute of the time that Jah gave me to do things.
you tube
While "everyone" was downloading and -hopefully- listening to my
new releases, myself I was diving deep back in the Dubroom's archives,
re-discovering some track I totally forgot about, recalling some precious
moments and just having a basic good time with these old tracks.
I wasn't playing the mp3's on my VLC player's play list, though. I was
uploading them all to You Tube, but not at the official Dubroom Channel.
You Tube has this nice feature called "Video Editor". Everyone can
make their own video using music that is published under Creative Commons on You
Tube, or use video material published at You Tube under Creative Commons. I used
the last possibility for the official Dubroom video releases I did in the last
time, and I thought it would be nice to give something back.
Throughout the years, people have uploaded some of my Creative Commons
releases to You Tube and this gave me the inspiration to open my own personal
You Tube channel (called "the Dubroom Dread") and start to upload all
music that the Dubroom released under Creative Commons. I've loaded each track
in Windows Movie Maker, added some information on the screen, and subsequently
uploaded the results to my You Tube Channel at www.youtube.com/dubroomdread.
In essence, I'm providing a complete catalogue of well over 300 tracks to the
You Tube community. Nicely sorted in play lists, each one with a download link
in the description. Music by Sure Dread, Heartical, Jah Roots, and myself,
everything nicely sorted with play lists. Yes, still under construction and
therefore not yet "officially anounced", but that will come later.
It's not even the reason why I write this update, even though it can be quite
an interesting piece of information for some. Everyone with a You Tube account
should be able to click on the "remix this video" button and start
using the music on their own account.
an incredible engagement
Then, when I was uploading my tunes, I saw that one of them was flagged with
a copyright notice.
I pressed play and, yes, that was my music. It was during a
rather dubbed out piece where I use a specific effect.
There was a button that enabled me to respond to this really
bizarre claim. And so I wrote them about the track and showed them the proof
that if in fact the recording was used by the claimer, that claimer had violated
mine.
I went on to search for this particular artist and the track he
released. I discovered it was all over the Internet, at Itunes, Amazon, all the
big names had the track for sale.
Time to actually listen to the track, I pressed play at
Amazon.com and to my utmost surprise I discover that this was my tune indeed. It
even had my voice, it was the Dub that I released and here and there a little
thing was added. Even Skream had done more work than this particular individual.
I wrote a review that basically said what the track was and my advice not to buy
it. The comment was approved by Amazon within an hour.
During that hour, I had discovered that this particular artist
was trying to make a name for himself in that industry which I have exposed in
two books and countless of other publications. Yes, the Christian Industry. His
particular track was released a few years back. I discovered a trail wherein
this person, year after year, pretended to have produced this track and received
one compliment after the other. He was all over the Internet receiving good
comments about "his" track, compliments which he responded to with
"Thank you".
A righteous anger awoke.
This was no longer a copyright issue caused by a notice of one
of my tracks at You Tube.
This was Jah showing me what these blasphemers had done, once
again. Stealing the real thing, "sanctifying" it by totally renaming
the track and not giving any indication whatsoever about any other source than
their own "inspiration", offering it for sale to an audience that is
trained into believing that the Most High orders them to only listen to
"sanctified" music. Yes indeed, I have seen that before.
Just like the money changers in the temple, just like the one
Peter described in the following scripture:
And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make
merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their
damnation slumbereth not. (source)
Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight
thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a
ready mind; (source)
This guy made merchandise of not just me, but especially his
audience. An audience, that believes they should turn to self proclaimed
"Gospel Reggae" artists in order to get a blessing from Jesus. A paid
blessing. Feigned words, saying he produced this thing. Feeding the flock of
Jah, his audience, for filthy lucre.
What a shame.
What a blasphemy!
Blasphemy? Yes. I didn't mention how this particular artist's
name included the Name of the Almighty. Everything he does, he does in the Name
of the Most High. The stealing, the misleading, putting the thieved material up
for sale, everything.
Of course that is not why I had made the track. That is not why
I released it online for free, many years ago.
I didn't make it to get accused of being a thief, either.
After all, that was the factual situation. The thief, who stole
that track from me, had officially registered his stolen good as his own
intellectual property when he put it up for sale. When I then wanted to upload
"his" intellectual property to You Tube I got accused for stealing his
stolen good. A total reversal of the truth.
Even though everything was easily proven, the situation was far
more serious and so I contacted the guy. What followed was a truly bizarre
exchange of communication which I would like to share with you.
I confronted him with the spiritual truth that I just painted in
previous paragraphs. Frankly, I asked him how he could maintain such a thing for
years in a row and not be confronted with the law written in the hearts of all
those that are truly born again. How can you claim to be born again and not be
convicted in your heart? I advised him very strongly to consider the words in
John 3:16, that quote our Lord saying everyone that believeth in Yesus shall
have eternal life.
Initially, my worst fear seemed to materialize in front of my
eyes.
He totally ignored everything, and was only interested in a
practical work-out. Yes, he would write to all the sites and have them remove
the track. Could he still offer it for free, though?
After pointing out to these specific, very serious things that
the apostle Peter wrote about, after my plea for him to check out his position
in Christ (if any!), my strong advise to go to the Father with this thing, all
he wanted was to hold on to what he got. He could not let go of his stolen good.
It was truly, truly painful to witness.
However, not all hope was lost. It took a while before he told
me that he had prayed over it and it was his idea that the Lord indeed wanted
him to remove everything. I hope he will do what Jah says. That's so much more
important than anything else!
in the mean time
I updated the Net Label website and my Ifficial home as well.
There are a lot new artist pages and several of them now include You Tube
embed's. My Ifficial home now has the right copyright notice with every track,
the one page from where you can download all my music is heavily updated as
well. Things should absolutely be more clear.
MY NEW SOUND AND SOME THING
MESSIAN DREAD UPDATE JUNE 7 2014
WWW, June 7 2014 - It's been a while since my
last update, even though it hasn't been quiet in the Dubroom lately. Still, it's
time for an update about this-and-that since too many things a gwaan where
others are simply new.
First of all, I am typing this into the memory
of a brand new computer. It's a powerful machine but given the fact it came with
Windows 8, I have yet to see the real power. Getting Reason 3.0 working and
seeing how it supposedly eats like 6 gigabytes of RAM is quite an experience but
in the end, after tweaking and learning I will get the darn thing to work. After
all, the reason for this brand new machine I'm working on now is to further
expand my new musical sound.
WWW, June 2012 - After almost a year of relative silence, the Dubroom will slowly start publishing new MP3 reviews starting June 15, 2012. Here's a small update from the Dubroom Webmaster concerning this and other issues related to the website and Messian Dread himself.
Greetings Massive!
It has been a long time since I've been reviewing MP3's and releasing podcasts, not to mention putting out my own material. Many reasons for this, some of which are still actuality. I did not have the time, energy or even inspiration to do what I've been doing these last 15 years. That's right, at the time I write this the Dubroom exists already for 15 years this very month!
I hope to be able to provide you with two MP3 reviews per day for the coming months. Jah Willing, obviously. I am in a period wherein I know I have to take it easy, I call it a "partial sabbathical", and I know that Jah is not against this to put it this way. After 15 years, the Dubroom is still there and I do not think that it's wrong to spend time with friends and family as I am re-charging the battery after one-and-a-half decade.
WWW, June 29 2011 - Well, I finally am at the point wherein I expect to soon be ready with the renovation of http://mp3.dubroom.org.
In any case, new reviews can be added in the new format. "All" I still have to do is:
- transform the artist pages in the MP3 portal into the new format. Some already are in there: take a look at http://mp3.dubroom.org/scientist.htm or http://mp3.dubroom.org/mikeydread.htm and see how easy it is to get the tunes and/or read the reviews. - Transport the podcast reviews to the new portal - Make more pages for net labels and podcast creators
When everything is finished, I will delete the MP3 museum as well as some other features which are now incorporated in the new format in other ways. Basically, http://mp3.dubroom.org/ will contain a section of single track MP3 reviews, a section of reviews of Net Albums, a section of reviewed Podcast and artist pages, all of which are browseable. For example, when you go to http://mp3.dubroom.org/mp3downloads.htm you will find pages containing 25 links to tunes each. When you go to http://mp3.dubroom.org/mp3albums.htm you will find pages containing links to 10 albums on each page. The podcast section, as said, is close to empty still.
I hope you will find using http://mp3.dubroom.org/ more easy than before. I hope, Jah Willing, to be ready with all the artist pages within like seven days or so.
DUBROOM RENOVATION PROJECT (5) - STUDIO DUBROOM FROM THE WEBMASTER
DUBROOM, February 2011 - I've managed to renovate another part of the Dubroom, this time it is http://studio.dubroom.org/ which is an artist/producer-only section filled with tips, tricks and downloads. Most of the material present is older but now the studio is ready to be expanded again. Some material has been taken off-line, though. These are parts which were hardly ever read or were surely not about to be updated even they they should. I hope that everything is more overseeable.
The different loops, samples, soundfonts which you can download now all have their own download page, from where you can also click to comment on the material, either via the blog or via the forum. I do plan to share some more material to download pretty soon but I cannot say when that will be.
I've did all the single track MP3 reviews in the new style now. There are in total now about 300 pages. I hope that soon the whole of http://mp3.dubroom.org/ will be transformed.
As I mention on the Dubroom Front Page, I am currently renovating the Dubroom website. Finally is the time to move from the old screen resolution to a more modern one, a bigger one This is a huge process as I have to manually design and change many thousands of pages. In this thread I would like to keep you a bit updated as to what I'm up to with it.
The first thing i attack is the MP3 Portal. Currently I think I did about 25% of the pages. For a preview, I just uploaded all the MP3 album reviews. Check them out at http://mp3.dubroom.org/mp3albums.htm
WWW, December 16/17 2010 - Some emails, questions in chatrooms and elsewhere: seems like there are some people who like to know what's up with the Dubroom and me, Messian Dread. After everything kind of full-stopped a few months ago, we are now a few weeks before the new year 2011: it's more than time to break the silence on a larger scale than "just" on the Dubroom Forum and some chatrooms I sometimes visit.
There was one direct cause of me having to take it more easy, a thing which people who frequent the Dubroom for longer know: I have periods in which I do suffer a lack of energy, I collapse here and there after putting too much hay on my fork as they say in this agricultural place I live. This was also the case a few months ago, around the time of Buju Banton's bail hearing.
Actually, it was a culmination of things that caused me to be in the situation described in Psalm 23 where JAH makes His sheep to rest in the middle of the green grass. I know that it is JAH Himself Who leads me into such times and usually I come out of there stronger and different. I think this will be the case in this time as well.
The last year for me was quite intense. There were separations with people who are now cursing JAH after fooling some Idren for many years into trusting them as Idren, where the opposite was the case. They could not keep their true identity hidden after Jah Dawta strengthened our little flock of JAH that we are here, and now they show their true -ugly- face.
My official marriage with Jah Dawta was a highlight! We said "yes" to each other in the face of many witness, it was something we worked so hard for years to get this done and by the grace of JAH it happened. "A Love Story Only Jesus Can Write", as someone told us already years ago. And not just a "love story", but the actual creation of a spiritual team ready to chant down babylon and satan once more.
Anyway: what about the website?
Where I first updated the Dubroom on a daily basis, I changed that to updating weekly but even that proved to be too much for me, at least at this time. Because I basically locked myself in that format in which I had to update weekly, I could no longer do that. Simply did not have the time as other things needed to be dealt with as well. That's when I kind of completely collapsed.
As one door closes, another one opens. That's always the case for Jah children, and so it is in this time. To be exact: I don't see the open door yet, but I do feel it.
Changes will be there, on the website. Definitely. I am working on a format that will make the site look better especially in newer computers, and will make it more easy for me to post stuff. Everything to do with (DUB) Reggae and Consciousness, obviously. However, I do feel kind of strong that things will be more loose in the sense that I will probably not be able to guarantee updates on a set time.
Changes will be there globally, too, a thing that I feel in every inch of my body and soul. Babylon is in total panique as her plan for the establishment of her planet-wide prison is continually exposed on every level. The economies collapse in especially USA and Europe, the first one being subjected from isolation from the rest of the world as on one hand people do see the evil being done in the name of USA and others who live there trying to save something what they believe the USA should be.
As things develop, I do feel that I need to document, record and comment on the events. This is done in the Babylon Observer segment of the Dubroom, a part which is arguably even more important than the musical reviews and for which I definitely know myself to have to give energy to. The Babylon Observer weblog and messageboard are currently very much alive and active! I feel strongly that the Babylon Observer will be more actively reporting, documenting and commenting in the coming times.
Musically, I tried to do things this year but -especially now that my headphones broke- I do not think that this is the most important thing for me to do right now, making music that is. Sure, many people ask me when I will put new tunes out, but I really do not feel like doing so and especially since I now have to save some money to get myself headphones again next year I see that Jah is not in a hurry to make me make music either.
Jah made me a free man in the sense that I do not have to solicitate for donations or -even worse- trying to get contracts or sell my music or other stuff. He dictates to me what I am supposed to do, and He provides me with the energy to do what I am supposed to do. I will not get energy for things I'm not supposed to do.
Right now, I am definitely not supposed to make music. Sure, many people would love me to release new tunes and actually ask me about it but I know there are things more important -and urgent- than making music. Being an observer of what's going on in Babylon, an observer without any other agenda than the word MARANATHA, I am definitely not only a producer/musician. There is a time and season for everything. Some people might be drawn to make music especially in this time, where others -like me- are being put on a different track.
Sure, there will be some people disappointed by this "news", if you will, the news that I really cannot tell you when I will start to release musical stuff again. I cannot apologize for it because I myself am not the master of my life, and I do not think that Jah has to apologize for anything. Let's say, that Jah put me on a musical sabbatical or whatever the right phrase is.
There's a lot of things that I think about doing, but there's a difference between what I would like to do and what I'm supposed to do. Usually, as stated before, I go by the energy that Jah gives me. I won't get the energy to make music, I simply conclude I'm not supposed to and to be frank, there are several reasons I can see just why that is. Music is strong, but it can also be used as a way of concealing other things. Like it is said that the band played while the Titanic sank to the bottom of the sea, it could very well be that as long as I make music I am not speaking out about this sinking ship that is called Babylon and of which I see so many brethren and sistren identifying themselves with. Is that not a much more urgent thing to address than releasing the next drum and bassline?
So, then, what is my idea about activities in the near future?
When I follow the visions of my eyes and the sound in my ears, I feel strongly that I am led to dig deeper and deeper into matters that I already have been studying and researching for many years. The story of the Creator and His creation, if you will. Especially in this time, I sense that there is a next birth pain coming up, a prophetic change of seasons if you will. This will include more separation of the goat and the sheep, this will include that those who are dirty will become more dirty whereas those who are clean will become more clean. It's a supernatural process which adheres to supernatural laws, described in the Book of Books (Bible).
I feel led to start compiling my research, observing the current things that reach my vision and speak out with my mouth what my eyes and ears observe. In this season, for me the time has come to break away from expectations one and ones might have and do only what I know JAH wants me to do. I feel no other obligations, I do not have the energy to do what I know many would like me to do.
I will keep updating the website and weblogs, will also keep on reviewing music and perhaps start podcasting again as well, but this does not have my priority at the moment. Nothing against music, of course, this is just a thing that I personally am going through and this is for me. I really feel very strong that JAH wants to show me and perhaps others that HE owns me and HE created me. I did not create myself.
In the case you want to stay up-to-date with my current runnings, I suggest to subscribe to one or more mailing lists or even better: become a member of the Dubroom Message Boards and start to contribute to the massive amount of material we've come up with during the years.
SPRINGTIME GREENS MESSIAN DREAD PERSONAL UPDATE APRIL 19, 2010
WWW, April 19 2010 - A change in Dubroom Online, a deepening of (not only) my music as building the Dubroom Studio continues, indeed it's spring time and that causes me to write another personal update for those that might be interested.
I've been going through all kind of rather intense and crucial changes in my personal, spiritual and productional lifes lately. Lately, as in these last years that is.
A lot of projects which I started could not be worked on as I found myself being led by Jah to be doing other, more important things than the things I was working on. During this process, which I came to call "A Spiritual Journey Called Psalm 91", I've learned too much to mention on too many topics to list in this update.
In the mean time, I've arrived in the phase that I can now pick up these projects again. On top of updating the website, that is. However, I cannot spend the amount of time updating the site as frequently as I used to do. It consumes too much time when it comes to my other projects, building the Dubroom Studio being one of them.
The idea now is, that I'll make some kind of format wherein Dubroom Online will not be put out daily, but weekly. These publications obviously have to be in some kind of format similar to an electronic magazine and currently I'm thinking about several different features as well as the format in which they will be presented.
It's not easy: there's so much different topics and things covered by the Dubroom, and a weekly edition must contain a healthy doses of just about everything. In the same time, there's stuff that requires immediate attention, there's news which pops up and that can not be integrated in a weekly.
I do hope that turning from a daily into a weekly will provide me with the time that I truly need to build on the Dubroom Studio. I'm going to seriously study multi-track recording and on top of that I am looking to enhance my own sound as well by making a concept wherein the best of automation and live mixing is combined.
That's not easy either: usually I only study things which I kind of have to study because I have to do a thing. I've been mixing my music throughout the years, doing things in the studio and as everything just seemed to go just nice, I didn't really bother to check out the musical runnings when it comes to possibilities. These possibilities seem to be kind of endless: at least in my idea now.
Nuff things to do, with not so much time as I would like to have. It's all a matter of creating the right schedule, though. As spring is strongly there at this moment and I'm looking at trees becoming more and more green, I will just give thanks to the Creator for a new season with it's own fruits in it's time.
