WWW, November 16 2009 - As I'm sitting here, sipping from my morning cup and slowly watch the darkness turn into light, there's a new day ahead of me wherein I will work hard on preparing the Dubroom for the rest of November and even December.

Apart from the daily Dubroom Online MP3 reviews, artists are featured with a daily MP3 as well. Currently we're featuring Edi Fitzroy, scheduled for later towards the end of November is a UK based duo called Love Grocer.

Jah willing, in December readers and visitors of the Dubroom will be offered a free and legal Mikey Dread MP3 file per day. We're talking about a lot of DUB and toasting, under which classics such as "Barber Saloon". In the extended version, of course.

"THE KING OF REGGAE" (WEBMASTER'S COLUMN)

WWW, November 15 2009 - Bob Marley has done a lot for Jamaica, for Reggae, and indeed for the people of the world. Especially those that suffer, hungering for righteousness which -as Bob Marley believed- will one day cover the earth.

He's not called the King of Reggae for nothing. As he popularized Reggae by using American musicians who would spice up the Roots music, millions were introduced to a music that would stick with them for the rest of their lives.

Reggae brings comfort to the afflicted, hope to the sufferers, strength to the victims, and motivation for those that actually want to do something to improve their environment.

Raspect is due to the man who rightfully wears the title "King Of Reggae".

DIGITAL REGGAE

"DIGITAL REGGAE" (WEBMASTER'S COLUMN)

WWW, November 14 2009 - In what can only be described as a musical revolution, Jamaica experienced a massive transformation of it's music with the introduction of the Drum computer and other digital technologies and possibilities.

It was King Jammy's, who had then spent a couple of years in Canada before returning to Jamaica during the mid 1980's, with a tune called "Sleng Teng", who was perhaps the leading factor in this "digitalizing of Reggae".

The drum computer would eventually bring producers to merge with other musical styles, such as Hip Hop and Rap.

All of these developments are clearly audible in Edi Fitzroy's tune "Give Your Love".

WWW, November 13 2009 - The reason why superstitious people believe that they shouldn't really do a single thing on Friday The Thirteenth is because in a time and place during European history the Freemasons were kicked out of France at a Friday the 13th.

No reason for panique, therefore.

Let's leave the Freemasons in their memorials, and let's look forward to a week wherein Dubroom Online will feature eight MP3's with musical works by Reggae vocalist Ras Edi Fitzroy.

A more than remarkable vocalist, and not just because he has a style of singing that has yet to be approached. Equally, at least with most of his lyrics, it would never hurt to actually pay some attention and take them a bit serious too.

WWW, November 12 2009 - Today's edition of Dubroom Online surely has a lot of Reggae Niceness from several times and places.

At least, that's my personal opinion.

Burning Spear live, Jah Free with a track written in 1976 but produced in more recent times, and Noel Ellis: indeed, the son of legendary singer Alton Ellis.

I've seen Burning Spear live a couple of times, and I was always impressed by the vibe Winston Rodney creates at stage. There's hardly a track produced by Jah Free that doesn't want me to turn up the volume and "disturb" the neighborhood. The Canadian début album of Noel Ellis, even though it was recorded back in the 1970's, has always touched a very special place in my heart because of the heartical singing and crucial mixing...

This column, for example, was actually written on November 6.

There's a small group of people who could read this column, or Dubroom articles and of course the reviews for that matter, before they're featured in Dubroom Online.

You can find them in a special forum called "pre-publications" on the Dubroom Message Boards.

"JAH FREE" (WEBMASTER'S COLUMN)

WWW, November 10 2009 - He worked with them all: Mad Professor, the Revolutionary Dub Warriors, Iration Steppers, Zion Train, Conscious Sounds, Vibronics, and the rest.

Ever since he started working in the UK DUB scene, Jah Free's musical productions have been of a consistent quality in strength, power and impact. He says this about it himself:

"All the works done and inspiration given is for the greater glory of the creator JAH RASTAFARI! ONE LOVE TO ALL NATIONS AND RIGHT THINKING PEOPLE. UNITY IS STRENGTH!"

Whatever the case, I think that it cannot be denied or ignored that there are countless artists and producers within Reggae and Dub who lift up the Creator by His name Jah.

TOMMY MC COOK (DUBROOM ARTIST PAGE)

WWW, November 2009 - Saxophonist and founding member of the Skatalites, Tommy Mc Cook (Havana, 1927) has been involved in the development of Reggae Music throughout the decades. His musical education at the famous Alpha Boys School brought him a career which lasted until his death in 1998, as he spiced up the sound as part of a horn section.
