Dubroom Online, Edition December 29 2009

"GIVE THANKS (2)" (WEBMASTER'S COLUMN)

WWW, December 29 2009 - All thanks and praises for everything good must and will go to JAH, and on top of that I will also give thanks to some wonderful souls around me who have been guiding me with crucial advice, wonderful ideas, nuff support in many ways.

I won't mention names, other than what is known already.

I would like to give thanks to all positive contributors to the Dubroom Message Boards, who have been providing the readers/visitors with often crucial insight and information.

I would also like to give thanks to all those who have been contributing to the Dubroom's contents in one way or another. Some people with insight concerning the runnings in Reggae Land, so to speak, others who have been providing me with great music to review.

One Love, Give Thanks,
Messian Dread (Dubroom Webmaster)

MIKEY DREAD - SWALK (DUBROOM MP3 REVIEW)

WWW, December 2009 - When it hit the markets in 1982, Swalk became a huge hit in the Latin markets. It showed Mikey Dread from a side he had not been showing that much before: not just toasting, but also sing jay style and singing. The tune is long: almost 9 minutes. Too bad it's not a Discomix with a Dub mix.

Dubroom Online, Edition December 28 2009

"GIVE THANKS (1)" (WEBMASTER'S COLUMN)

WWW, December 28 2009 - As we approach the end of the calendar year, I would like to conclude that calendar by giving thanks and I would like to start, obvious for most readers/visitors of the Dubroom who care to read my daily columns, by giving thanks to the Creator.

JAH, Who is always around, Who has no beginning and no end as He is eternal and external of His creation even though He came down Himself as a man to save all people.

JAH, Who also created me made me do what I did, as far as it comes to the good things "I" do.

JAH Who also blessed me significantly this life, and not just site-wise but also in my more personal realms where I usually find the peace and rest that I need to live the life I love and live.

One Love, Give Thanks,

2010, LOOKING FORWARD (5)

Dubroom Online, Edition December 27 2009

Dubroom Online, Edition December 27 2009

"2010, LOOKING FORWARD (5)" (WEBMASTER'S COLUMN)

WWW, December 27 2009 - When I look back, I give thanks to Jah. When I look forward, I lay it out before Him and I know that it's not me who runs anything if Jah does not let me do it.

Even stronger, if I do not get the strength to do what I do, I can't do a thing and all my strength comes from Jah.

I cannot even breathe air without Him!

And so, even though I do have a lot of (mainly musical) plans, I know that this will only come to pass when Jah is Willing to bless it and give me the energy to do so.

Because of the very intense situations I had to deal with in 2009, I do know that -next to working on maintenance and creating riddims- I need to rest for more than a little while as well.

Which I am hoping to do at the moment you are reading this.

One Love, Give Thanks,

Dubroom Online, Edition December 26 2009

"2010, LOOKING FORWARD (4)" (WEBMASTER'S COLUMN)

WWW, December 26 2009 - Next to my own musical projects, I also hope that the year 2010 will produce the first releases from the new Dubroom studio.

New?

Ah, well, not really.

A couple of years we started to set up a studio where it would be possible to record actual musical play by musicians but things happened and that plan had to be put in the freezer.

Currently defrosting, if you will, Jah Willing we will find the time and energy to not only set up this studio so that the studio band can play, but also will actually play, record, mix and release!

More Tomorrow...

Dubroom Online, Edition December 25 2009

"2010, LOOKING FORWARD (3)" (WEBMASTER'S COLUMN)

WWW, December 25 2009 - Next to the video's, I also hope to release a lot of new Messian Dread musical works in 2010.

In fact, I already started.

At the moment I'm typing this, I'm already creating riddims for what I hope will be another project resulting in net albums and EP's.

I've got a much better studio sound right now, and I plan to finally use a lot of sampled material and other recordings which I haven't used until, Jah Willing, the next year.

I did a similar project a couple of years ago. It resulted in the production of two Net Albums, one commercial CD and a whole flood of EP's.

Dubroom Online, Edition December 24 2009

"2010, LOOKING FORWARD (2)" (WEBMASTER'S COLUMN)

WWW, December 24 2009 - As all the columns have been pre-written, there is a big chance that I'm currently working hard on maintenance of the website.

It's not just that not all reviewed material on mp3.dubroom.org is properly presented and thus has to be integrated in the portal.

The video reviews, for example, are a huge mess. I really hope to clean up the section as thorough as the MP3 portal is cleaned and currently re-build with much better material.

This is getting hindered, though, because of the fact that I maintain this website with a computer that still runs on Windows '98 and for video reviews I have to use another computer which is not at the place I'm in right now.

Dubroom Online, Edition December 23 2009

Dubroom Online, Edition December 23 2009

"2010, LOOKING FORWARD (1)" (WEBMASTER'S COLUMN)

WWW, December 23 2009 - After evaluating the last year, it's time to look forward. Yes, the Dubroom and my life are in the Hands of the Father, and so all my plans are no more than that, my plans...

It could very well be that Jah again has many other things for me in store than the things I work for at this moment, but whatever it is that He does, it is a zillion times better, and infinitely more than that even.

There's nothing wrong with working on things and projects, nothing wrong with laying out your plans before Jah.

But there is something wrong when these plans are to be seen as "Gospel Truth".
