Dubroom Online, Edition December 8 2009

"EVALUATING 2009 (7)" (WEBMASTER'S COLUMN)

WWW, December 8 2009 - The only disadvantage of the fact that we had to move over to a new provider for the Dubroom Message Boards is a huge disadvantage: everything that all of us posted was gone, is gone...

There were major debates, interesting topics and news items, links, basically a huge part of documented Dubroom site history is simply gone and every attempt to contact Xsorbit or even their providers about this had a result which can only be described as empty and void, or Tohu va Bohu in normal Sumerian language...

Fortunately, though, most of the regular posters on the old Dubroom Message Boards did find their way to the new one and slowly the amount of postings is reaching to the "old level"...

Dubroom Online, Edition December 7 2009

"EVALUATING 2009 (6)" (WEBMASTER'S COLUMN)

WWW, December 7 2009 - When I discovered, back in February, how the Dubroom Message Boards were not "just" offline because of some technical issue and that I had to find a new place, I discovered Yuku and decided to join.

Much more expensive, but also much more useful as a forum: the Dubroom Message Boards 2.0 were born, a wink to "Internet 2.0" sites such as YouTube, Myspace and Twitter.

Video's can be posted, it's more easy to copy and paste, there are also several Message Boards feeds making it more easy for people to keep up with specific threads, or new postings in specific fora.

When it comes to features, the new Message Boards are clearly superior over the old. But since we couldn't retrieve any data, all the postings on the old boards vanished.

Dubroom Online, Edition December 6 2009

"EVALUATING 2009 (5)" (WEBMASTER'S COLUMN)

WWW, December 6 2009 - In 2009, the Dubroom lost an enormous amount of information and historical data when the Messageboards went off-line, one day in February.

When it took more than a technical outage would explain, I had to find out just what was the matter.

WHERE ARE THE DUBROOM MESSAGE BOARDS? (DUBROOM IN-SITE 14)I discovered stories which told how the CEO of the hosting company had fled his country because of some mortgage-fraud issues (Click on picture to read more).

It was clear that everything that had ever been posted on the boards would go into the memory hole of Cyberspace and I had to find a new home for the Dubroom Message Boards.

EVALUATING 2009 (4)

Dubroom Online, Edition December 5 2009

Dubroom Online, Edition December 5 2009

"EVALUATING 2009 (4)" (WEBMASTER'S COLUMN)

WWW, December 5 2009 - Musically, I haven't produced much this year. Even though 2009 started with a mini Dub album and I've released a couple of singles as well, it was below average.

However, that wasn't all music coming out of Dubroom Star Selections, even though the year was kind of dry when it comes to our own productions.

In 2009, Dubroom's Net Label did release Heartical's second album "DUB Remnant", a few months after his début album "Operation Emancipation".

Heartical himself is continuing his works in his studio, the music will only be released when he is more or less satisfied with the result.

Which, by the way, also counts for me.

WWW, November/December 2009 - It's been quite a while since I've found the time to write a personal update to those interested in my runnings. In that time, my life has settled more and even though I'm not there yet: it's time for an update!

GREEN PASTURES
MESSIAN DREAD PERSONAL UPDATE DECEMBER 5 2009

Read This Update On The Dubroom Website

WWW, November/December 2009 - It's been quite a while since I've found the time to write a personal update to those interested in my runnings. In that time, my life has settled more and even though I'm not there yet: it's time for an update!

In my previous update I shared a bit about the fact that it is absolutely necessary to trust in the Most High at all times, and not in our own sight (or sound). After having been kind of homeless (not: houseless) for two years in which I had to travel up and down to another continent as my home basically was scattered over two continents, my house is my home again.

To the fullness!

It's not just, that I'm really grateful to not have to go to Amsterdam Airport again to fly away for a month or so, only to come back in order to prepare for my next flight. That reason in itself is causing a lot of joy and relief in my soul, obviously, as it's really not desirable to be a dread "from Amsterdam" and deal with customs and immigration officers all the time. On top of that, saying goodbye to your loved ones all the time, as they're kind of scattered over two continents and therefore you'll always leave somebody behind, does take a toll on your soul.

Not anymore, though!

The last time I went to Amsterdam Airport wasn't to take the plane anymore, I went straight to arrivals and took the car back to where I live, if you know what I mean here... Of course, a lot of things needed to be done after that which also took a lot of energy, but it was definitely not as energy-taking as the period before that.

In the meantime, I've definitely landed in what the 23rd Psalm describes as "Green Pastures". There's something to say about these pastures, though. For it is so, that indeed Jah is my Shepherd, I Shall Not Want, for He Makes Me To Lay Down in the green pastures. In the abundance of food, there is no need for me to use that food. This is how Jah satisfies my soul at this moment.

In August I was blessed to acquire access to a very large collection of free and legal MP3 files which I can link to straight from the Dubroom. It was clear, that Jah had provided this, also to make me lay down in the green pastures. At this moment I've written all the MP3 reviews for December, wrote most of the columns for the same month too, and as it looks now this will give me a time in which I can really lay my head and rest for a while.

I thank the Lord God Jah for everything He does in my life, I did nothing to deserve it but still He is my Shepherd and I shall not want, because I have.

One Love, Give Thanks,
Messian Dread

EVALUATING 2009 (3)

Dubroom Online, Edition December 4 2009

Dubroom Online, Edition December 4 2009

"EVALUATING 2009 (3)" (WEBMASTER'S COLUMN)

WWW, December 4 2009 - The Dubroom Artist Pages -at this moment there are 85- form a brand new section of the Dubroom website, with a lot of potential.

In a way, the pages are all little websites livicated to specific artists. You'll find -of course- the links to the Dubroom reviews of the specific artists, but also biographies, press photo's and other things can be put on the mini-sites.

Given the fact that there are currently 85 artists represented, it could not only be a start of an easy way to find just what the Dubroom has reviewed of a specific artist, but in the end everything can grow out to an interesting source of information.

Dubroom Online, Edition December 3 2009

Dubroom Online, Edition December 3 2009

"EVALUATING 2009 (2)" (WEBMASTER'S COLUMN)

WWW, December 3 2009 - When this period in my life wherein I had to fly up and down to another continent for two years came to an end around mid July, one relief after the other came down as everything we prayed, hoped and worked for did indeed come to pass.

Of course this has an effect on the Dubroom works, too. I did my utmost best to maintain the site and keep it running throughout that time, but now I'm back in a situation where I will find the time, the rest and all that other stuff you need in order to work on projects.

One such projects is a brand new section in the Dubroom, called the Dubroom Artist Pages. It was a long wish, but I never found the time to actually sit down and create that new section .
