DUBROOM ONLINE EDITION AUGUST 16-22 2010

FROM THE EDITOR

WWW, August 16 2010 - Not one, but two podcasts: both of them are well recommended as one dives into contemporary Roots and Culture mainly from the UK and EURO Dub scenes and the other is totally livicated to none other than Mikey Dread! On top of that, a brand new Messian Dread two-track release and a wonderful album by the Spanish based Emeterians.

Sure, usually Dubroom Weekly contains much more than "just" one review, a podcast and a release. However, especially those who checked out last week's interview with Jah Dawta and your's truly on the Zeph Report will have noticed that this kind of a hectic time down here.

Positively hectic, that is.

But then, you have to check out just what this is all about, in order to overstand....

Another release with two brand new, original riddims and Dubs by yours truly: another thing I was blessed to do last week. I'm boiling with inspiration and behind the scenes a project is in the making which will be released in due time. The inspiration obviously comes in a time where I was already wondering if I would make at least one tune this year but as usual I worry too much and should just realize that Jah always takes care of business so to speak.

Apart from the inspiration to produce, I am also putting a lot of effort in Radio Dubroom. Since I'm using a different technology than I'm used to do with the old Radio Dubroom as well as my live DJ shows, I have to find out a lot still but I think I'm improving. Lazy me, I have loads of jingles but I'm only using one or two. I'm not lazy in actively approaching labels, producers and artists for permission to play their music but not everyone replies, let me leave it at that. Those who do, can -as far as this website is concerned- be considered as truly loving the music and loving the music to get to the people. They don't just talk the talk but they actually walk the walk.

Ah, well, what's new? Not what I just said....

Two podcasts, and that is not at all because one of the episodes has that "dreadful" number 13. I'm not superstitious, besides my body was born on the 13th as well and I know too well just why that number is told to be "unlucky": it was one day on a Friday in which the freemasons had a defeat somewhere in their history. Or was it the templars? It doesn't matter: let them fear that number, I know Yesus and his 12 made thirteen too.

Episode 13 of Radio Dubroom 2010 deals stricktly with heavyweight Roots and Culture from the UK and the European continent. It's a podcast with a lot of bass, a lot of foundational music and a lot of upful, inspiring lyrics which is obviously springing from the Most High Himself. The other podcast, number 14, is totally livicated to the One And Only Mikey Dread: seventy-two minutes of pure Roots and Culture from the days which many preterist disdainfully call "golden age of Reggae", as if Reggae has a colonialist history and no future at all...

Ever heard of the Emeterians? To my utmost shame, I must admit that until last week I had not heard of the band. I should, though, and as soon as I did I knew that this band should be exposed to a larger audience, to which I hope to contribute a bit by prioterizing the review of their album "Change the Mood".

The album has been playing several times over here in the Dubroom, on headphones and on speakers. I'm sure that the street we reside in have been enjoying the vibes too. Blessed music for real, and not -"just"- because of the fact that the music is recorded in the very same way as that other Spanish band Hotdrop likes to record their music: traditionally analogue.

Next week, Jah willing, another edition. That edition will -again, Jah willing- be quite large. The reason for that has to do with the fact that I really have to do some things in the Outernet.

Wanna know what? Check it out!

One Love, Give Thanks,
Messian Dread (Dubroom Webmaster)

MESSIAN DREAD - THUNDER AND LIGHTNING

MESSIAN DREAD - THUNDER AND LIGHTNING
DUBROOM STAR SELECTIONS RELEASE

image

WWW, August 2010 - Two brand new original thunderous Messian Dread steppers rhythms, mixed in a kind of wild style with lots of bass and phased echoings: Thunder and Lightning fe true!

Best played on a Hi-Fi set with lots of bass, preferably even with a subwoofer, these two Messian Dread mixes are obviously made for a time like this. A time, wherein it is always good to be remembered of that fact that JAH is there, because He is the Creator.

Thunder and Lightning themselves are only vague "illustrations" of the Almighty JAH Who answers to no one except with His Judgment. Yes, Jah is Dreader than Dread, a thing which is "illustrated" in the two Dubs of this release as well. To fear Him is to live, to hate Him is to die...

The two dubs are mixed in a wilder style than other Messian Dread tracks from the "Showcase" era (2006-2008). Multiple layers of instruments and effects phasing themselves in and out of the riddim, long echo's and even hardly noticeable sounds -even- a violin, all on top of a heavy heavy bassline and hard stepping drums: straight to the duppy's head!

FROM THE EDITOR

WWW, August 9 2010 - This edition of Dubroom Weekly has some very special features, a presentation of the brand new Me Zion Dread riddim "(Jah Jah) Dreader than Dread" not being the most important one. Another episode of Radio Dubroom and some very nice free and legal MP3 files and albums are not the most important either.

What is the most important, is given in the fact that last Saturday, yours truly was interviewed on the ZEPH REPORT, on worldwide shortwave radio and over the world wide web. The interview can be downloaded as a free podcast, too. And you might just want to do it, if you're interested in the private and spiritual life of not just your's truly, but also that of another well known poster on the Dubroom Message Boards, Jah Dawta.

In a rather unusual openness, it becomes clear throughout the interview that there's some very special blessings going on in our lifes, a thing which we could not speak about for a couple of years but have now been led to share with those that want to hear.

Then, there is the presentation of the brand new "(Jah Jah) Dreader than Dread" riddim, for which I've used my other artist name Me Zion Dread, a name that Jah Willing you're gonna see more in upcoming releases from the Dubroom Studio. This is the name I am led to use whenever I go into a spiritual warfare riddim and Dub style.

There's another episode of Radio Dubroom, too. You might want to check it out, as there's a track for from the brand new album "United States of Africa" by Luciano, scheduled for release this month. On top of that, the title of the podcast says it all: Radio Dubroom Presents More Blessed Vibes, in the form of heavyweight Roots and Culture, both vocals and dubs!

As usual, we've got more MP3 reviews for you as well. Next to some Cutty Ranks tunes from the 1980's, which we dug up "From the Wire", two tracks from the EURODUB and ROOTS field. More from that area comes in the form of two reviewed Net EP's and one Net Album by the Italian based Dub Collective "Dub Inna House".

Have a blessed week!

ME ZION DREAD - (JAH JAH) DREADER THAN DREAD

ME ZION DREAD - (JAH JAH) DREADER THAN DREAD
DUBROOM STAR SELECTIONS RELEASE 2010

WWW, August 2010 - Presenting the brand new Dreader than Dread riddim: a thunderous steppers in the I-riginal homegrown Hardcore DUB style, mixed and voiced in wild style with extra bass to attack the subwoofer. Two mixes, one message!

When it’s coming in the Hardcore Dub style, Messian Dread’s own version of Roots Reggae, the music is released under the name Me Zion Dread rather than Messian Dread. A subtle difference, which you can choose to ignore (or not): the music cannot be denied!

And so, once again, here is Me Zion Dread with yet another I-riginal thunderous steppers rhythm to chant down Lucifer and his Queendom with some in-your-face truth from the Heights.

The "Dreader than Dread" EP comes with two mixes: the first one is a very dubby Discomix with the full lyrics in the first part and some more heavyweight Dub mixing in the last part. The second mix, subtitled "Evil Is Nothing - Dub Chant", has even more bass and would be preferably played on Sound Systems with speakers able to deal with the thunderous bass sounds in the mix.

The lyrics deal with the fact that indeed, the Most High and Creator of all JAH is Dreader than Dread. This ancient Truth must be told from generation to generation, especially in this time wherein one after the other is losing their faith. It’s also a message to the warriors of Lucifer’s Queendom who keep on fighting Jah Jah children even though they stumble and fall every time they fight Jah children down.

More on the Dubroom Message Boards

WWW, August 7 2010 - In what was a very revealing talk with Zeph and Trish Daniel, Jah Dawta and yours truly appeared on the Zeph Report yesterday. It was a talk wherein a formerly privately matter was shared with the audience. Also, it was the official release of the brand new Dreader than Dread riddim. Given the fact that the show was also broadcasted over world wide short wave radio, a potential audience of millions may have heard it.

The show is now available as a free podcast download. It starts up with a pre-talk of about twenty minutes, then there is another hour before in the last hour we appear. We talk about the way we met and the fact that we are now getting married, we talk about the fact that two spiritual warriors see more rthan just one, which is a good thing for the both of we. Spiritual aspects are mentioned throughout the hour.

DUBROOM MP3 REVIEW

Reasoning in Dub

WWW, August 2010 - Even though a Dub from this track was released on the Net Album "Reasonings in Dub", this discomix containing the full lyrics and a Dub version was never before available.

The music is mixed in demo style, where -before the Dub part arrives- there's not much mixing going on and the music basically flows along with the vocals. The vocals were not yet pre-mastered which becomes rather audible here and there, but the positive message will probably compensate that.

The dub is mixed in the tradition of 1970's Rockers, incliuding a melodica lick, even though it's clear that this is an all-digital production.

Showcase

WWW, August 2010 - Another mix was released on the "Showcase" album, released for Jah Mark's record label, and a dub on the Net Label release "Reasonings in Dub", but here is the hard and rough demo version of what is the producer's favorite track of "Showcase".

The mix is obviously different than the previously released, but -to those familiar with the track on "Showcase"- it's clear that the music and lyrics match quite well and lead the mixing in a significant way. Not all riddims kind of lead the engineer but does one definitely does.

Over five and a half minutes of pure chanting down the Queendom of Lucifer: Babylon!
