Radio Dubroom 2014 Chapter 7: Daughters of Zion

DAUGHTERS OF ZION
RADIO DUBROOM 2014 CHAPTER 7

dOWNLOAD pAGE

WWW, June 2014 - The seventh chapter of Radio Dubroom 2014 is a livication to all the Daughters of Zion, sometimes getting no attention and sometimes getting the wrong attention. Dignity and consciousness form the main vibe in the one hour and twenty-or-so minutes of this non-stop mix of Roots Reggae and Dubwise. Lots of Dubwise.

The set starts of with a Vibronics Dub, from the album Dub Italizer, a classic until this very day. Second is Lady Shelly, welcome to Canada, not in the least because of some recent publications concerning the trouble Queen Ifrica got from blind warriors fighting Rasta without knowing who they fight against.

What follows is a selection of UK and EURO Dub and Roots, from Sweden to the UK to the Netherlands. Vibronics, Zion Train, Slimmah Sound, Dubcreator and Goldheart Music are all present. And the Mad Professor, too, with a track from the excellent "Inspirational Sounds of Mad Professor" album released through Zion Train's Universal Egg label.

Enjoy!

NISHKA WITH HORSEMAN AND DENNIS ALCAPONE - DUB HURTS/HURTS DUB
DUBROOM NET LABEL RELEASE

Visit Download Page

WWW, June 2014 - Straight from the Dubroom Studio: two heavyweight Roots Reggae Dubwise tracks featuring Nishka, Horseman and Dennis Alcapone on an original Dubroom riddim with real horns and real Dub mixing by Messian Dread. Dis ya tune come fe nice up the nation!

Years ago, Messian Dread and the well-known UK DUB act Alpha and Omega did an a-capella exchange resulting in an excellent tune by the UK Dub Twins and a -now very much dated- track by Messian Dread. To celebrate the current sonical developments in the Dubroom Studio (yes, a new sound), a complete new track was build on this a-capella from the classic "Show Me A Purpose", (non-exclusive but licensed) vocals by two mighty MC's strategically added and subsequently made into the Dubs you can download for free in both CD Quality Wave Audio or High Quality MP3 files before listening.

The music? Original heavyweight steppers in the Roots/Rockers tradition. Two tracks, two different vibes, each one or both fully suitable to be part of your Roots Reggae Sound System selection or DJ Set/Podcast. Or simply as a part of your play-list. Whatever the case, when you like some Roots Reggae Dubwise you will like Dub Hurts/Hurts Dub, cause when the music hits you feel no pain.

This two track release is presented as 128/320 Kbps MP3 Files or true CD Quality WAVE Audio, as usual with releases out of the Dubroom Studio. Click "DOWNLOAD" to go to the Download Page. All Rights reserved © 2014 Messian Dread/Dubroom

NEW SOUNDS FROM THE DUBROOM STUDIO AND OTHER DEVELOPMENTS

NEW SOUNDS FROM THE DUBROOM STUDIO AND OTHER DEVELOPMENTS
DUBROOM IN-SITE #32

Read

WWW, June 2014 - The last months, the Dubroom has been the scene of more activity than the last two years combined. It all started with a complete website renovation about which we reported in the previous Dubroom In-Site, and continued as the sound from the Dubroom Studio and Net Label also went through quite an update. In the same time, users of Studio Dubroom have seen how significant additions provided them with a lot of new info and soundware. This edition of Dubroom In-Site not only sums it up, but also reveals a little bit concerning exiting new music which Jah Willing be released later in this year. Reasons enough to take a sip and read on...

Sometimes, it is good to take a little bit of rest. The Dubroom started back in 1997 and developed but during the first part of 2014 and some years before that, yours truly had absolutely no energy to continue in the same way. The sound that was developed around 2006, was worn out to say the least. Five albums and well over thirty EP's/Singles, altogether about 130 different mixes, the last one released in this year, 2014. In another update you can already read a little bit about it, but this edition of Dubroom In-Site gives a bigger picture.

Most self-respecting artists and producers will have a sense of unsatisfaction concerning material they have (seen) released in the past. It's called healthy criticism or continual insight, whatever. Usually, such a sense leads to some kind of development but it can take time, sometimes years before anything is actually achieved.

Even though it can take years, an improvement can be done in a short time. Just compare "Dub the Wicked" (MP3) with "Imperial Dubwise" (MP3), the first one released in April and the second in May of this year 2014. The difference is hopefully noticeable, and is not just the result of some financial investments in licenses and hardware. Not just the result of a sense of responsibility and dignity when it comes to using the obtained material. It has to do with inspiration as well, something that is very hard to define. Call it the X-Factor. Personally, I Messian Dread prefer to say the JAH Factor but that will be no surprise for anyone even remotely familiar with I (works).

Now, these past few months it's not just the Dubroom Website where a lot of things are going on. The very same, well, to be quite frankly even more can be said about the Dubroom Studio. Thus far, only a couple of tracks have been released but much more is produced, just not released. A sneak preview is given in......

Radio Dubroom 2014 Chapter 6: Anti-Racist Dubs 'n' Steppers

ANTI-RACIST DUBS 'N' STEPPERS
RADIO DUBROOM 2014 CHAPTER 6

dOWNLOAD pAGE

WWW, June 2014 - Another selection of stricktly heavyweight Steppers coming your way! Featuring some recently reviewed Net Label releases, a healthy portion of UK DUB and Roots, a Lyrical Benjie classic from Dubcreator's MP3. com days and two recent Dubroom productions, one of which is not released and perhaps might not be released so this mix could very well be the only opportunity to hear it.

Starting off with a no-nonsense track by Canada's Dub maestro Dubmatix, taken from a free compilation recently reviewed in the Dubroom. Also reviewed on mp3.dubroom.org is the brand new anti-racist Vocal and Dub by Yeyo Perez and the Bass Culture Players from Spain. Mr Bossman Dub by Dub Machinist is als taken from the free "Lost in Dub Chapter 1" compilation.

Next segment contains a selection of vocals and dubs released through Zion Train's labels Deep Root and Universal Egg. With the exception of Dr. Dubious and Sister Verdiana - Stone In the Wall Dub, which was taken from the third chapter of the excellent Italian Dub Community Showcase series.

Lyrical Benjie is no stranger to the Dubroom visitors. The Netherlands-based Roots Singer is a veteran vocalist, and to listen to his conscious lyrics over a Vibronics and a Dubcreator track is a blessing for the soul. Hopefully, the trtack you can hear straight after the Dub of "Ten Plagues" gives you a good vibe as well, since this is a track taken from the fresh mixes in the Dubroom studio. As you may or may not know, there's hard work going on in establishing a new sound, well, this is just one Dub out of many that may or may not be released later. Just listen to the track, and -when you want- give a little feedback. This is also welcome for the Dub from Dennis Alcapone's "Got To Be Conscious", by the way. That one track can be downloaded for free.

Again, Izyah Davis and Fullness. Taken from the album "Arise" (reviewed in the Dubroom), this show features the title track. A superb track of which we play the vocal and the Dub. Closing off, two crucial Dubs by the UK based Nucleus Roots collective. Massive, heavyweight!

RADIO DUBROOM 2014 CHAPTER 5

dOWNLOAD pAGE

WWW, June 2014 - With Roots and Culture from all times and places, this chapter of Radio Dubroom shows how Reggae Music goes together hand in hand with consciousness. From Jah Wisdom to conscious observations, you will find it voiced over the bass and drum lines. Here is Roots Reggae Dub Wisdom: enjoy!

The set opens up with a track from the download archives of yours truly: this one was available for download on the website from the (Netherlands based) producer Robert Curiel back in the previous century. It's a Dub full of vibes, just like the second one by Sheya Mission and the 1975 7" release by what many consider to be the first Roots Reggae band in the UK.

Continueing with another rare vinyl single with Michael Prophet and a healthy portion of Dub re-released through the Blood and Fire label. Mchael Rose forms a bridge to more recent material, that is, from the last decade or so. Crucial material from Twilight Circus, Mad Professor, Slimmah Sound, Don Fe, and the new Dubroom release featuring Dennis Alcapone.

Chapter five of Radio Dubroom 2014 is also the first mix done using the new hardware here in the Dubroom, a rather exciting thing to do but that's for another occasion

MY NEW SOUND AND SOME THING

MY NEW SOUND AND SOME THING
MESSIAN DREAD UPDATE JUNE 7 2014

Read

WWW, June 7 2014 - It's been a while since my last update, even though it hasn't been quiet in the Dubroom lately. Still, it's time for an update about this-and-that since too many things a gwaan where others are simply new.

First of all, I am typing this into the memory of a brand new computer. It's a powerful machine but given the fact it came with Windows 8, I have yet to see the real power. Getting Reason 3.0 working and seeing how it supposedly eats like 6 gigabytes of RAM is quite an experience but in the end, after tweaking and learning I will get the darn thing to work. After all, the reason for this brand new machine I'm working on now is to further expand my new musical sound.

MAKING DUB WITH COMPUTERS, PART 19: THE (MIDI) RIDDIM SECTION

MAKING DUB WITH COMPUTERS, PART 19: THE (MIDI) RIDDIM SECTION
STUDIO DUBROOM TUTORIAL

To Download Page

WWW, June 2014 - Check out a brand new chapter of the "Making Dub With Computer" tutorial, especially for those that want to do what the title says. This particular chapter deals with the basic principals of programming the chords of the Piano, Guitar and Organ into an instrumental Reggae track.

Even though the "riddim" or "skanks" section is not the field of expertise of the writer of the tutorial, it might show to be fruitful to at least check out the chapter.

One Love,
Messian Dread

DENNIS ALCAPONE - GOT TO BE CONSCIOUS/DUB TO BE CONSCIOU

DENNIS ALCAPONE - GOT TO BE CONSCIOUS/DUB TO BE CONSCIOUS
DUBROOM NET LABEL RELEASE

Visit Download Page

WWW, June 2014 - This is the second release in the new Dubroom Studio sound, carrying the voice of none other than Dennis Alcapone delivering a musical message over a militant style Steppers riddim. Real horns, nuff Dub mixing and a positive vibe for the online (DUB) Reggae Massive!

Got To Be Conscious comes in two different mixes: the first one is a (mini) discomix carrying the full vocals followed by a Dub where the second is a spaced-out Dubwise track. Both mixes have their own specific vibe as well.

This second release in the new Dubroom sound comes with a real horn section, something really new and used in many more releases to come. Connoisseurs will rightfully recognize the Ariwa horn section (like in the previous one) and the Ariwa riddim section (the piano etc). Still this is an original Dubroom riddim and production, and it's a legal (licensed) release too.
