Dubroom Online - March 18 2009

"SEE YOU APRIL THE FIRST!" (WEBMASTER'S COLUMN)

WWW, March 18 2009 - For today's edition of Dubroom Online, we have a truly crucial collection of free and legal MP3 tracks, straight from the vaults of the producer himself.

When you like (DUB) Reggae, there will at least be one tune that you really, really like and probably much more.

Got some disturbing documentation as well, which you may like to check out when you're interested in the runnings on this planet, no cool runnings at all.

On another note, I'm preparing a brand new DUB Album by Heartical, which will be released starting April the first, when I hope to be back with some brand new editions of Dubroom Online.

In the meantime, see you April the first, or at the Dubroom Message Boards!

One Love, Give Thanks,
Messian Dread (Dubroom Webmaster)

THE WAR ON REGGAE (6)

image

Dubroom Online - March 16 2009

"THE WAR ON REGGAE (6)" (WEBMASTER'S COLUMN)

WWW, March 16 2009 - Obviously, the selection of Obama as the first African American president of the USA gave an initial spark of joy. Soon, however, when the ceremonial rituals were performed, it was business as usual.

One Reggae Artist said that he would now see things in a different way even though he knew, it was business as usual. We know all about that business, we have learned it from the Rastafarians too.

The "War Against Reggae", as I try to define it in this short series of columns (don't worry, it won't be another yearlong series like last year), surely has landed in a next phase, when we see how perception is so much more important than the actual facts for so many people.

THE WAR ON REGGAE (5)

image

Dubroom Online - March 15 2009

"THE WAR ON REGGAE (5)" (WEBMASTER'S COLUMN)

WWW, March 15 2009 - That war against Rastafari and Rastafarians is directly connected with Babylon's "War Against Reggae", for obvious reasons.

Even though many do not like it, it's Rastafari that made Reggae become known world wide: just look at Bob Marley who was the most important in this effort to popularize the Freedom Sounds of Jamaica to the people of the world.

Brute force, infiltration, imitation, it's all there. Every trick in the book is used to try and tone down the strong voice of Freedom that Reggae Music really is.

And now, with the recent selection of Barack Obama as the president of the USA, this whole situation has definitely reached into a new dimension.

THE WAR ON REGGAE (4)

image

Dubroom Online - March 14 2009

"THE WAR ON REGGAE (4)" (WEBMASTER'S COLUMN)

WWW, March 14 2009 - When Babylon went down on Rastafari with open and brute force, it was kind of really clear that Babylon was fighting down the sufferers.

When Reggae began to be a world wide phenomenon, however, the system had to change certain ways and next to pure downpression which takes place until this day, she also infiltrated the Culture.

I've documented such an attempt from the Christian Industrial Complex, where they openly spoke how they would "transform the culture" of Reggae by "injecting it with a new message".

But that attempt was just one example out of many ways Babylon tries to kill a culture that produces sounds of freedom like never before.

THE WAR ON REGGAE (3)

image

Dubroom Online - March 13 2009

"THE WAR ON REGGAE (3)" (WEBMASTER'S COLUMN)

WWW, March 13 2009 - The word "dreadlocks" is said to have come from people talking about the early Rasta's as having those "dreadfull locks".

From the start, Babylon has tried to fight Rasta down. And from the start, she did this with brutal force.

In the later 1980's, I was told how the Movement of Rastafari was fought against throughout the Caribbean. I heard how at a certain island, police and army in helicopters would go to Rastaman's camps and kill everyone there: men, women and children.

These things were unknown to many, especially when you consider I heard it years before the Internet became publicly accessible.

When Reggae Music and Rastafari got more and more connected, it should not be of no surprise to realize that Babylon then focused on the music too.

"IN THE BEGINNING": 6000 YEARS AND 6 DAYS AGO?

"IN THE BEGINNING": 6000 YEARS AND 6 DAYS AGO?
MESSIAN DREAD SPIRITUAL MEDITATION

image

WWW, March 2009 - Is the King James Version 100% correct, when the translation seems to indicate that JAH created creation about 6000 years ago, in a state of desolation?

"Yes", say the Creationist. I beg to differ, however.

Creationism", unlike the popular idea, is not "just" the knowledge that creation was created by the Creator. If that would be the case, I could have been labeled a "Creationist" myself. However, I am not. And still, I believe that Jah created creation and no I do not believe that he did that through Darwin, so to speak. I do not believe mankind comes from the proverbial monkey.

A creationist believes, however, using slogans like "the Bible is the Whole Truth", that God created creation in 6 days, about 6000 years ago. A creationist believes in the traditional doctrines that came to us through Augustine, the Vatikan and it's "Reformers". A Creationist believes, that "in the beginning", the first words of the Bible, is also the "first day" of the week described in the first chapter of Genesis.

And I beg to differ, Sirs!

First of all, the Bible does not say at all that "In the beginning was the first day" at all. In fact, Genesis starts with the words:

"In The Beginning, God Created The Heaven And The Earth. And The Earth Was Without Form, And Void, And Darkness Was Upon The Face Of The Deep." (Genesis 1:1,2a)

When you read on, you see that Jah wipes the darkness of the earth and makes a difference between day and night. That wiping away of the darkness is the first act of the "creation week", which I would rather call a re-creation week.

First of all, the word "was" is not necessarily translated in the right way. The word could also be "became". Whether you use the word "was", or "became", therefore, requires more than literally translating the first lines of Genesis.

When you translate the word as "was", you make Genesis say, that Jah created the earth without "form and void", or, as the Hebrew phrase goes, "Tohu va Bohu". This phrase is used in the Bible only a couple of times, so let's take a look where they are used as well.

Let's go to Isaiah, where Jah speaks about His judgments:

"He shall stretch out upon it the line of confusion, and the stones of emptiness" (Isaiah 34:11b)

Obviously, since you cannot "create destruction" and Tohu va Bohu does indicate destruction rather than a creative act, it is not right to translate the first lines of Genesis using the word "was" to describe the original state of creation "in the beginning".

But there is more usage of the word Tohu va Bohu. This next usage, also Isaiah quoting JAH, says this:

"For thus saith the LORD that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I [am] the LORD; and [there is] none else." (Isaiah 45:18)

So here we have Jah Himself saying, that He did not create the earth "Tohu va Bohu". And since we already know, that the words describe a situation after the judgement of the Most High, we might get an indication as to what really happened, somewhere between "In The Beginning" and the first day of the week in Genesis.

Jeremiah helps us out. He was taken to that time, before mankind was created. He describes a situation that is in no way like the ones creationists describe when they make God in their image, a God that creates empty things. Take a look:

"I beheld the earth, and, lo, [it was] without form, and void; and the heavens, and they [had] no light. I beheld the mountains, and, lo, they trembled, and all the hills moved lightly. I beheld, and, lo, [there was] no man, and all the birds of the heavens were fled. I beheld, and, lo, the fruitful place [was] a wilderness, and all the cities thereof were broken down at the presence of the LORD, [and] by his fierce anger. For thus hath the LORD said, The whole land shall be desolate; yet will I not make a full end." (Jeremiah 4:23-27)

Obviously, we speak about a situation that is not the original creation, even though Jeremiah is taken to that time when the earth was Tohu va Bohu in Genesis 1:1. It is obvious, that the earth became Tohu va Bohu!

So, now we have Jah Himself saying that He did not create the earth in this situation, we have two accounts that tell us Tohu va Bohu is a situation after a judgement of Jah, and we have Jeremiah who speaks about this time in more detail.

Jeremiah specifically says "there is no man", but he also speaks about "cities". He speaks about a civilization on this planet before mankind was ever created!

Creationists deny all of this. They obscured the translation in the King James Version in the very first sentence of the very first chapter of the very first book, and with that, they have created God in their image: a God that cannot create anything, for you cannot create emptiness.

Now, other than the fact that it is more than interesting to realize that there were civilizations before mankind was created, it is equally so that the God of the creationists is not the God that wrote the Bible in the original language. And not only because it is an oxymoron to "create emptiness".

A couple of months ago I wrote about Sodomy, which most people think is another word for homosexuality where the Bible uses the word heteros to describe what the Sodomites were doing. Here, too, do we see that very same God of the creationists at work. Their denial of the fact that there are more intelligent beings than just mankind, leads to their painting of a God Who makes people pay for His... mistakes!

We see the same God, who is sorry that He created mankind and since He seems to be unable to master time, He can do nothing but wiping out His creation with a flood. That is not the Almighty JAH that I know, that is not the perfect JAH that I know!

We can go on, for example, and look to the battles of Israel against the Canaanites as described in Exodus and so on. We can look at JAH telling the Israelites to kill other human beings, or we can look at the original text and read how these were not human beings at all but descendants of the Nephilim, unholy offspring of angelic beings with daughters of men.

All of this, however, is lost to the creationists who do not seem to be able to grasp that although mankind is created in the Image of JAH, this by no means means that (wo)man is the only intelligent being in creation and that human civilization is all that ever was in Jah's creation.

It is clear, that the KJV is not 100% correct. The mistranslations start already in the very first line. How important is it, to know Jah personally in order to understand just what is written in the Bible, especially when you consider these mistranslations? Asking this question is answering it.

THE WAR ON REGGAE (1)

image

Dubroom Online - March 11 2009

"THE WAR ON REGGAE (1)" (WEBMASTER'S COLUMN)

WWW, March 11 2009 - Babylon like to have war talk. She comes up with the "War on Drugs", and since9/11, the "War on Terror".

Gradually, though I am starting to see that there is also a "War on Reggae".

No, the term isn't found in the warmongering rhetoric of the workers of iniquity, but when you look at everything objectively, there is a war on the music that has set so many people free throughout the last decades of it's existence.

The war is fought in many fronts, by different armies. Today, the Dubroom has a rather sad report about a vicious attack on the online (DUB) Reggae Artist community.

An attack that comes from different factions trying to get I and I into a war that is not ours.

AN IDEA...

Dubroom Online - March 10 2009

"AN IDEA..." (WEBMASTER'S COLUMN)

WWW, March 10 2009 - About I week ago, I mentioned in this place that sometimes you're forced to improve as Webmaster/Editor.

Some improvements are not caused by a "crisis situation", though. These improvements usually start with an idea and it can take years before it is actually implemented.

The Dubroom Video Reviews, for example. for a long time, the domain video.dubroom.org only contained a picture saying something like.... "Soon".

In the meantime, there are literally hundreds of reviewed video's ready to be watched.

An improvement that is currently running through my head, is to make an artist page for each and every artist reviewed on the Dubroom.

Dubroom Online - March 9 2009

"DEEP, DEEP ROOTS" (WEBMASTER'S COLUMN)

WWW, March 9 2009 - The "Deep Roots" series that we feature on Dubroom Online in this time, surely gives a good look on the history of Reggae Music and Jamaican in general.

There are several documentaries on Reggae Music, many of them reviewed in the Dubroom, but "Deep Roots" indeed goes deep.

Personally, I like the fact that the scenes are long.

Both interviews and sessions in the studio are in-depth. Unlike many of the video's made today, where things go with the speed of light, here we take some more time.

Of course, this is because in six hours, you can put much more than in the usual one or two hours in the usual video.

Dubroom Online - March 8 2009

"THE WITHDRAWAL THAT WAS NOT THERE..." (WEBMASTER'S COLUMN)

WWW, March 8 2009 - As I'm typing this, I am listening to an investigative journalist explaining just why the withdrawal from Iraq isn't a withdrawal at all.

You don't really need to know a lot of world politics and so on to realize how right the man is. They simply keep 50,000 troops there, and not a word is said about the private contractors (hirelings) that "work" in Iraq, either.

Once again I am drawn in my memories, to the millions and millions of people who were celebrating on the streets to celebrate their hope on "change". The war in Iraq was a huge, huge part of that hope.

I also remember that well known person saying that he celebrated Obama's inauguration because, even though he knew too well that there's not going to be no change, it did change his perception of things.

EXIT WAR ON DRUGS?

Dubroom Online - March 7 2009

"EXIT WAR ON DRUGS?" (WEBMASTER'S COLUMN)

WWW, March 7 2009 - There are just too many reasons why this war should be stopped, most Dubroom readers/visitors will likely agree. At least, this is my estimation.

The satanic "War on Drugs", which already made millions of victims and trillions of dollars in profit for the Police and Prison industry, holds the entire world under it's grip.

Will this ever, eeh, change?

More and more, we hear sounds from the US that seem to indicate that finally there will be some relief in the enormous pressure that herb smokers encounter.

In a recent posting on the Dubroom Message Boards, for example, we could read how certain laws will "possibly" be revised.

WWW, March 6 2009 - The Dubroom is under continual construction, as there are always new things to add, dead links have to be removed, et cetera.

From time to time, it is necessary to even renovate the site. Sometimes out of choice, sometimes caused by events. Take the disappearance of Xsorbit, for example. The company stopped paying their bills and boom, off-line.

It wasn't my choice to change providers, but I must admit that I was kind of not really satisfied with the possibilities of the old Dubroom Message Boards. '

So, when it turned out that Xsorbit was completely gone, even the CEO supposedly running out of the country with the police on his tail because of some fraud issue, I knew it was time...

However, sometimes I have to make an exception and the UK based Massive Attack definitely is one of them. They've worked with Horace Andy and Mad Professor even mixed an album for him, which is also reviewed on the Dubroom by the way.

Alpha and Omega, the dynamic UK DUB Duo, is not an exception whatsoever. They are a regular guest in the Dubroom Reviews and that is not just because they've released a tune with my voice on it, a few years ago.

SMILE, JAH JAH LOVE YA

Dubroom Online - March 3 2009

"SMILE, JAH JAH LOVE YA" (WEBMASTER'S COLUMN)

WWW, March 3 2009 - In the ancient book of the Kebra Negast and the ancient Ethiopian Book of Enoch, we can read the true reason for the Great Flood, for what the Sodomites were really doing and who the people were that had to be killed by the ancient Hebrews.

The denial of these teachings have led to terror regimes through out the centuries, when people like the successive Popes and reformers like John Calvin institutionalized their heresy dressed up as "Christianity".

Today, we see that these teachings are still alive and very much kicking. It is the massive of "born again Christians" who voted for George W Bush, for example. The millions that are killed in the unjust wars in Iraq and Afghanistan speak for themselves and their innocent blood cries unto the Throne of the Almighty One.

In this edition of Dubroom Online, you can read a report about a group that take the teachings of the so-called Church Reformers until their ultimate consequence.

When I will ever meet them, they will tell me -with a smile on their face- that their God hates me. I will tell them: "Smile, Jah Jah Love Ya"

Dubroom Online - March 2 2009

"DMB 2.0 (3)" (WEBMASTER'S COLUMN)

WWW, March 2 2009 - Traditionally, only a fraction of the visitors and readers of the Dubroom Message Boards actually post. They had to register when they wanted to stay up-to-date with the things that are going on.

This is no longer necessary.

Since the new Message Boards have a feed for just about everything someone might want a feed for, you do not need to register at the new Dubroom Message Boards to keep yourself informed.

You can easily follow what's going on by subscribing to a feed in your browser, or even stay up-to-date by e-mail.

Only when you want to post/contribute, is when the registration process gets interesting. A process which is not as easy as in the previous boards, I must admit...

One Love, Give Thanks,
Messian Dread (Dubroom Webmaster)

Dubroom Online - March 1 2009

"DMB 2.0 (2)" (WEBMASTER'S COLUMN)

WWW, March 1 2009 - A new month, a new Message Board, it's almost springtime: looking forward is a must now...

The Dubroom Message Boards 2.0 will enable me and others who post to increase the quality of these postings. Embedding video's, it wasn't possible in DMB 1.0. Forwarding a news item took a complete programmers guide in Bulletin Board Code ("What?" "Yes, indeed, that's my point")...

Each thread has it's own RSS Feed and e-mail subscription button. Each forum has so, too. And lastly, there is a feed for all new topics in DMB 2.0, so you can stay up-to-date with anything you want without having to register.

Unfortunately, though, those that wish to continue posting on the Dubroom Message Boards will have to register at the new site...

One Love, Give Thanks,

JOHNNY OSBOURNE AND BUNNY BROWN - LOVE MAKES THE WORLD GO ROUND (DUBROOM MP3 REVIEW)

WWW, February 2009 - It's not really a Reggae tune, but this 1974 riddim from the Canadian Summer Sound Studio surely captures the vibe of the time. Just under three minutes of pure niceness in what really is a historical recording, an essential piece for every self-respecting collector of the better Reggae Music.
