"REGGAE GOT HOUSE" (WEBMASTER'S COLUMN)
WWW, August 27 2009 - The MP3 reviewed for this edition of Dubroom Online is a perfect example of how contemporary Dance music and Reggae fit very well together because of the similarities between the structure of both the music and the mix in the two musical genres.
It equally shows an aspect of Reggae Music, namely to absorb the vibe of the time and of other genres, only to capture it within the rhythmical structures of Reggae Music.
Just think about Toots and the Maytalls' "Reggae Got Soul", for example. People who love(d) Soul Music would recognize the track as a Soul Track, especially when they would "never" have heard of Reggae Music before.
Aswad's "This Sound" could also be called "Reggae Got House"...
One Love, Give Thanks,
